Kelly C. Hyke

Kelly C. Hyke

Owner / Funeral Director / Spink County Coroner

Kelly grew up in Bowman, North Dakota. After graduating from Bowman High School in 1986, he attended Bismarck State College and received an associate of Arts degree.  In 2000, Kelly attended and received his degree in Mortuary Science from Worsham College of Mortuary Science in Chicago, Illinois.  After graduating in 2001, he returned to Beulah, North Dakota where he was employed by Seibel Funeral Homes. 

Kelly, his wife Bonnie and their children, Megan and Adam, moved to Redfield and started working for Thelen Funeral Home on June 1, 2006. On December 1, 2015, Kelly and Bonnie purchased the funeral home from Pat Thelen.

Kelly is a licensed funeral director in both North and South Dakota and is a member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church where he serves on the parish council, is a Eucharistic Minister and sings in the church choir. Kelly is currently the president of District 4 for the South Dakota Funeral Directors Association.

Kelly is very active in the community serving as Unit Commissioner for Sioux Council Boy Scouts of America. Kelly currently serves on the Troop Committee as chairman and has served as Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 128 and is a member of the Redfield Kiwanis and the Redfield Knights of Columbus.


Kelly also serves as the Spink County Coroner.

Bonnie Hyke

Owner/Funeral Assistant

Bonnie grew up in Alexander, Manitoba, Canada and moved to the U.S. when she married Kelly Hyke.  Kelly, Bonnie and their children, Megan and Adam, moved to Redfield in June 2006.  

When Kelly and Bonnie purchased the funeral home in December of 2015, Bonnie worked at the funeral home around her full-time job at Redfield High School. In June 2016, she began working at the funeral home full-time.

Brent Osborn

Brent Osborn

Funeral Assistant / Deputy Spink County Coroner

Brent started working at the funeral home in August 2013 as a funeral assistant.

Brent is a 1991 graduate of Redfield High School and a 1995 alumni of Northern State University. Brent, and his wife Michelle, reside in Redfield with their four sons: Bennett, Owen, Peyton and Camden. Brent is active in St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Family Crisis Center, Redfield Baseball Association, and as a youth baseball coach. He is also an agent for DeSmet Farm Mutual Insurance and Redfield Realty.

Brent also serves as a Spink County Deputy Coroner.



Marleen Huckabay

Marleen Huckabay

Office Assistant / Funeral Assistant

Marleen started working at Thelen-Hyke Funeral Home in March of 2016  as an Office/Funeral Assistant. Marleen previously spent 40 years as an emergency 9-1-1 dispatcher and had worked at the Spink County Sheriff’s office since 1996.  She served as the chief dispatcher for the last several years before retiring at the end of 2015.  Marleen and her husband James have been very active in the community of Redfield.


Gabby Gruenwald

Intern

We are very pleased to welcome Gabby Gruenwald to the Thelen-Hyke Funeral Home staff. Gabby grew up in the Redfield area and graduated from Redfield High School. She is a 2017 graduate of Northern State University in Aberdeen with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with minors in Business and Gerontology.

Gabby has began an accelerated program in Mortuary Science while working with us as an intern. We look forward to her working with us in all aspects of funeral directing and embalming as she studies to become fully licensed in the state of South Dakota as a Funeral Director/Embalmer.

We will continue to rely upon our part-time staff: Brent Osborn, Marleen Huckabay, Dale Fiedler and Frank Krumm. We truly appreciate their flexibility and their willingness to assist with whatever is needed at whatever time of the day or night. They have been and will continue to be invaluable to our funeral home and to those families we are privileged to serve.
